*ECW History

ECW began operating in 1992 as Eastern Championship Wrestling. On 08/27/1994, the name was changed from Eastern to Extreme. It operates in Philadelphia, with spot shows in the surrounding Pennsylvania area. The wrestling operations are currently handled by Paul Heyman (manager Paul E Dangerously) who bought the promotion from former owner Todd Gordon in 1996. In April of 2001, the promotion closed.

-PWF Owner Jim Cornette and ECW Owner Paul Heyman announced an annual match between the PWF and ECW for the PWF/ECW Quadrathlon Survivor Championship.

*November 30, 2018: Bryan Danielson defeated Steve Corino to become the thirty-fourth ECW World Television Champion.

-Taz, Raven, Steve Corino, Tommy Dreamer, Cactus Jack, Rob Van Dam, Scotty Anton and Yoshihiro Tajiri, Jack Victory and Bill Alfonso left ECW (Raven disbanded his Nest stable in exiting; Corino left the Extreme Horsemen upon his exit).

-Paul Heyman announced an annual Battle Royal to begin within ECW in January 2019 at Guilty As Charged where the winner would receive an ECW World Heavyweight Championship match at any time of his choosing.

*December 7, 2018: Kamikaze (Takeshi Morishima, Naomichi Marufuji and KENTA) managed by the returning Don Callis debuted in ECW.

-The Hardy Boyz (Jeff & Matt Hardy) debuted in ECW.

*December 30, 2018: Shelton Benjamin debuted in ECW.

*January 4, 2019: Randy Orton debuted in ECW and assumed leadership of the Extreme Horsemen (Rhino, Jerry Lynn and C.W. Anderson) stable.

*January 27, 2019: Randy Orton won the first annual ECW Battle Royal.

-Simon Diamond, Swinger and Justin Credible left ECW.

*March 29, 2019: Randy Orton defeated CM Punk to become the thirty-seventh ECW World Heavyweight Champion.

-Umaga & Yoshihiro Tajiri defeated The Briscoe Brothers (Jay & Mark Briscoe) to become the fifty-fifth ECW World Tag Team Champions.

-Johnny Nitro debuted in ECW.

-Christian York returned to ECW.

-Frankie Kazarian left ECW.

*April 28, 2019: Eddie Guerrero and Dean Malenko returned to ECW.

*May 31, 2019: Ken Kennedy defeated Bryan Danielson to become the thirty-fifth ECW World Television Champion.
